Oxnard is surrounded by some of the richest agricultural land in the world. The leading crop in Oxnard is strawberries, followed by celery and nursery stock. Countywide however, strawberries are the principal crop with lemons being second. Avocados are also an integral part of the agricultural industry.

Besides sugar beets, the soil around Oxnard is famed as the best lima bean soil in the state, with the city as the home of the central offices for the California Lima Bean Growers Association.

Lemons, oranges and walnuts are grown in and around Oxnard. The Oxnard Citrus Growers Association facilitates exports to the Pacific Rim region through the Port of Hueneme.
