The caliber of Oxnard’s schools compares favorably with that of suburban
areas throughout the United States. Facilities are modern,
student-teacher ratios are low, and budgets are sound. Served by four
elementary school districts, the City of Oxnard offers students
excellent classrooms, teachers and support teams from school counselors
to speech therapists.Providing quality education
since 1901, the Oxnard Union High School District serves Camarillo,
Oxnard and Port Hueneme. The District enrolls nearly 15,000 students at
six high school campuses, one continuation high school, and various
alternative educational programs.
Oxnard College, a comprehensive two-year community
college, offers 30 Associate of Science and 18 Associate of Arts degree
programs as well as certificate courses and continuing education
courses.
California State University Channel Islands is the
23rd campus of the CSU system. Adjacent to Camarillo near Oxnard, the
university offers Baccalaureate and Masters degrees in business, natural
sciences, computer sciences, the arts, and teacher education.
California Lutheran University was founded in 1959 as
Ventura County's first four year university, today offering more than 50
undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs at its Oxnard
Graduate Center and its main campus in nearby Thousand Oaks.
Azusa
Pacific University, a private Christian university, has an off-site
regional center in Oxnard which is a direct extension of APU’s main
campus in Azusa, CA. The Regional Center offers undergraduate degree
completion programs as well as a wide variety of master’s degrees and
credential programs. All courses are offered in the evening and are
taught by both full-time faculty and local adjunct professors. |
